Hit-Bound ft. Ryan Sampson - 2021 April 30

This is the 18th posting of Hit-Bound in 2021 and week 58 of the "Hits 1 at Home Edition" of Hit-Bound. Mikey Piff was gone all this week so Ryan Sampson from the Morning Mashup is filling in. There is still no Hits 1 To Watch artist, so there are still only 15 songs (not counting the 4 'Most Wutchuwanted' songs). Just like the last two weeks, there are 3 new songs and 1 returning song to Hit-Bound this week.

The three new songs are "RAPSTAR" from Polo G, "Girl From Rio" from Anitta, and "telepatía" from Kali Uchis. The one returning song is "Too Late" from Cash Cash/Wiz Khalifa/Lucas Graham. It is dropping out of the Weekend Countdown after being there since March 27. It never rose beyond #26 and was #28 in its final week on the countdown.

Kali Uchis' song "telepatía" is also being featured as the Weekend Countdown Extra for this week. This is the fifth week in a row that a song on Hit-Bound is the Countdown Extra.

The 4 songs leaving Hit-Bound are "Wave Of You" from Surfaces, "Up" from Cardi B, "Obsessed" from Addison Rae, and "Follow You" from Imagine Dragons. "Wave Of You" and "Follow You" are both moving over to the Weekend Countdown, with "Follow You" making one of the highest debuts on the chart at #14.

"Up" from Cardi B and "Obsessed" from Addison Rae are not moving over and were on Hit-Bound for 4 weeks and 5 weeks, respectively.

This is the 14th countdown of 2021 and the first one in April and the second quarter. Last week, Taylor Swift's "willow" ended Drivers License's streak at #1 and became the fifth different song to reach #1 this year. Will it continue to be #1? Scroll down to find out. An interesting note, this week I noticed at least 2 slip-ups on the countdown that referred to its former number of songs, 45. In the first part of the intro Spyder Harrison said, "Before we get to this week's fresh 45..." and there was an automated ident that said, "The 45 biggest hits in North America." It is likely these are just mistakes, but it would be nice to get back to 45 songs, even if it was 3 hours in length. This is the 13th countdown of 2021 and the final one in March and the first quarter. Last week, Drivers License was #1 for the fourth week in a row. It is now the outright the top song of 2021 with four week at #1. Will it extend its time at #1? Scroll down to find out. This week, there are 3 songs entering and 3 leaving. Joshua Bassett's "Lie Lie Lie" (was #9), Sigala/James Arthur's "Lasting Lover" (#19), and 24kGoldn's "3,2,1" (#26) are all leaving the countdown. Joshua Bassett sets a new record on the countdown for the highest ranking song to fall out of the countdown from one week to the next. The previous record was the number 13 position for Ariana Grande's "34+35" just two weeks ago on March 13. Of those 3, "Lasting Lover" was the oldest song, being on the countdown since its premiere on January 1st.
