Hits 1 Weekend Countdown - 2021 April 24

This is the 17th countdown of 2021 and the 4rd and final one in April. Last week, "willow" from Taylor Swift was the #1 song for the fourth straight week in a row. Will it continue to be #1 for a fifth week in a row to tie the record so far this year? Scroll down to find out. This week, there are only 2 songs entering and leaving. "First Time" from Illenium/Iann Dior (was #23) and "Drivers License" from Olivia Rodrigo (#6) are leaving the countdown this week. Olivia Rodrigo's "Drivers License" is now the highest ranking song to drop out of the countdown from one week to the next. The previous record was at the number 8 position. Since leaving the #1 position on March 27, it had been hovering in the top 5 except for last week. The 2 'new' songs consist of 1 new song and 1 returning song: "Remember That Night?" from Sara Kays is returning to the countdown after leaving last week and "You" from Regard/Troye Si

Hit-Bound with Mikey Piff - 2021 April 23

This is the 17th posting of Hit-Bound in 2021 and week 57 of the "Hits 1 at Home Edition" of Hit-Bound. Last week, Mikey Piff mistakenly said it was week 55 of the 'at home edition' of Hit-Bound, so now he is 1 week off in the count. Since there is still no Hits 1 To Watch artist, there are still only 15 songs (not counting the 4 'Most Wutchuwanted' songs). That means that there are now only 2 songs after Mikey Piff's introduction before the first 'Most Wutchuwanted' song plays. Just like last week, there are 3 new songs and 1 returning song to Hit-Bound this week. I haven't heard any of the 3 new songs before, much less in the past week on Hits 1. One of them originated on the alternate music channel Alt Nation; that is "seratonin" from the girl in red. The other two are "On The Ground" from ROSE and "In The Water" from CAL & Quinn XCII. ROSE is one of the members of Blackpink who recently launched her solo

Wutchuwant Countdown - 2021 Wk 16, Week of April 19

Welcome to the Wutchuwant Countdown listing for week 16 of 2021. Mikey Piff was back this week after being gone last week, however, he wasn't there on Monday as is typical. If you've been noticing, this countdown is extremely volatile. The #1 song will usually fall the next day 10, or even 14 spots to last place. Then the next day, it is back at #1. Monday and Wednesday's lineups are very similar along with Tuesday and Thursdays. It would be nice if they could just make the lineups consecutive instead of separate with the volatile rankings changes. Conan Gray's "Overdrive" was #1 on the Wutchuwant Countdown for two days: Monday and Tuesday. It would go on to be this week's #1 song on the Weekend Countdown [April 24] for its first (and so far only) week.

Hits 1 Weekend Countdown - 2021 April 17

This is the 16th countdown of 2021 and the 3rd in April. Last week, "willow" from Taylor Swift was the #1 song for the third straight week in a row. Will it continue to be #1 for a fourth week in a row? Scroll down to find out. This week, there are again 4 songs entering and leaving. "Remember That Night?" from Sara Kays (was #29), "What You Know Bout Love" from Pop Smoke (#18), "Anyone" from Justin Bieber (#9), and "My Head & My Heart" from Ava Max (#8) are all leaving the countdown this week. Ava Max's and Justin Bieber's songs set a new record for the highest ranking songs to leave the countdown the next week. They were at number 8 and number 9 respectively, and had both experienced a 2 spot jump up in their last week on the chart. Pop Smoke's song fell out of the countdown for a few weeks in February before turning. In its last week, it rose 5 spots. Sara Kay's song had been on the Weekend Countdown for onl

Hit-Bound with Mikey Piff - 2021 April 16

This is the 16th posting of Hit-Bound in 2021 and week 56 of the "Hits 1 at Home Edition" of Hit-Bound. Last week was week 55 for the 'at home edition' but for some reason Mikey Piff said 55 again in this week's intro. Mikey Piff was off all this past week from his nightly DJ hosting but he did this pre-recorded Hit-Bound episode as usual. This week, there was a reduction in the number of songs by 1 to bring the total to 19. There are 3 new songs and 1 returning song to Hit-Bound this week. Among the 3 new songs is "Wave Of You" from Surfaces, which was unofficially on Hit-Bound last week as it played immediately after Hit-Bound ended. The other two new songs are "Hold On" from Justin Bieber and "STOP" from AJ Mitchell. The one returning song is "Remember That Night?" from Sara Kays. It was only on the Weekend Countdown for one week last week at number 29. Surface's song "Wave Of You" is also being feature

Wutchuwant Countdown - 2021 Wk 15, Week of April 12

After being gone for 3 weeks, this is the Wutchuwant Countdown listing for week 15 of 2021. This week, Mikey Piff was gone so there were guest hosts each day. On Monday it was Alex D and then from Tuesday through Thursday it was Rich Davis. For some reason, Rich Davis calls it a "mini-Wutchuwant Countdown" even though it is still 15 songs. Maybe he's referring it to be a mini-version of the Weekend Countdown, since that has 30 songs. I have the previous 3 weeks of Wutchuwant Countdowns recorded in my spreadsheet and I'll post those shortly once I capture and process the audio introductions and commentary.

Hits 1 Weekend Countdown - 2021 April 10

This is the 15th countdown of 2021 and 2nd in April. Last week, "willow" from Taylor Swift was the #1 song for the second straight week in a row. Will it continue to be #1 for a third week in a row? Scroll down to find out. This week, there are 4 songs entering and leaving. "Monsters" from All Time Low/Demi Lovato/Blackbear (was #29), "Levitating" from Dua Lipa featuring DaBaby (#27), "My Ex's Best Friend" from Machine Gun Kelly/Blackbear (#22), and "Put Your Records On" from Ritt Momney (#15) are all leaving the countdown this week. All songs except for Ritt Momney's song had experienced declines in the last week they were on the countdown. "Monsters dropped 5 spots, "Levitating" dropped 9 spots, and "My Ex's Best Friend" dropped 12 spots in their last week on the chart. Ritt Momney's song had jumped up 7 spots in its final week on the chart. The 4 new songs are "Calling My Phone"

Hit-Bound with Mikey Piff - 2021 April 09

This is the 15th posting of Hit-Bound in 2021 and week 55 of the "Hits 1 at Home Edition" of Hit-Bound. There are 6** new songs and 1 returning song to Hit-Bound this week. The 6 new songs are "Met Him Last Night" from Demi Lovato/Ariana Grande, "Track Star" from Mooski, "Good Without" from Mimi Webb, "Heartbreak Anniversary" from Giveon, "deja vu" from Olivia Rodrigo, and "Mr. Perfectly Fine (Taylor’s Version)" from Taylor Swift. The 1 returning song is "Follow You" from Imagine Dragons. It is returning after being on Hit-Bound for only 1 week back on March 19. Demi Lovato and Ariana Grande's song "Met Him Last Night" is also being featured as the Weekend Countdown Extra for this week. The 7 songs leaving Hit-Bound are "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)" from Lil Nas X, "You All Over Me (Taylor’s Version)" from Taylor Swift/Maren Morris, "slower" from Tate McR

Hits 1 Weekend Countdown - 2021 April 03

This is the 14th countdown of 2021 and the first one in April and the second quarter. Last week, Taylor Swift's "willow" ended Drivers License's streak at #1 and became the fifth different song to reach #1 this year. Will it continue to be #1? Scroll down to find out. An interesting note, this week I noticed at least 2 slip-ups on the countdown that referred to its former number of songs, 45. In the first part of the intro Spyder Harrison said, "Before we get to this week's fresh 45..." and there was an automated ident that said, "The 45 biggest hits in North America." It is likely these are just mistakes, but it would be nice to get back to 45 songs, even if it was 3 hours in length. It might be a tight fit with the current average of 15 songs/hour, but in 2.5 hours they might be able to cover 40 songs. This week, there are 2 songs entering and leaving. Tones and I's "Fly Away" (was #27) and Harry Style's "Golde

Wutchuwant Countdown - 2021 Weeks 12 & 13 (March 22 - April 1)

This is the Wutchuwant Countdown listing for weeks 12 and 13 of 2021, which covers the last two weeks in March. I'm posting these two weeks together to clear the backlog of Wutchuwant Countdowns that have accumulated up. On Monday, March 29 and Tuesday the 30th, Mikey Piff was filling in for Tony Fly and Symon on Hits 1 in LA (Hollywood) during the afternoons. Due to that, Rich Davis filled in during the evenings for those days. Piff was back on Wednesday but it seems like the number 1 song announcements will almost always be automated. That is disappointing, because I liked the commentary that usually precedes the announcement and after the countdown ends, the #1 song is never mentioned in later DJ-commentary segments. Week 12 covers Monday, March 22 to Thursday, March 25. Week 13 covers Monday, March 29 to Thursday, April 1.

Hit-Bound with Mikey Piff - 2021 April 02

This is the 14th posting of Hit-Bound in 2021 and week 54 of the "Hits 1 at Home Edition" of Hit-Bound. There are 5 new songs and 1 re-entry to Hit-Bound this week. The 5 new songs are "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)" from Lil Nas X, "You All Over Me (Taylor's Version)" from Taylor Swift/Maren Morris, "Up" from Cardi B, "Once In A Lifetime" from All Time Low, and "Dancing With The Devil" from Demi Lovato. The 1 returning song is "Fly Away" from Tones & I. It is falling out of the Weekend Countdown and moving back to Hit-Bound as last week it was at number 27. It had been on the countdown for 8 weeks, since February 6th. All Time Low's song "Once In A Lifetime" is also being featured as the Weekend Countdown Extra for this week. The 6 songs leaving Hit-Bound are "acting like that" from YUNGBLUD/Machine Gun Kelly, "POV" from Ariana Grande, "3,2,1" from 24kGoldn,
