Hit-Bound ft. Ryan Sampson - 2021 February 26

This is the 9th posting of Hit-Bound in 2021 and this is the first week this year that there is a substitute host. Ryan Sampson from the Morning Mash Up is filling in for Mikey Piff who has been gone the whole week of February 22. Ryan Sampson's host commentary between songs was much more condensed than Mikey Piff's, which allowed an extra song to be played (for a total of 17 Hit-Bound and 21 total songs). This week there are a record seven new songs on Hit-Bound. Also, not included in the 7, there is 1 song re-entering Hit-Bound after dropping out of the Weekend Countdown, "Forget Me Too" by Machine Gun Kelly and Halsey.

The seven new songs are from the artists 24kGoldn, Masked Wolf, Ruel, Leah Noble, Daya, Tiesto, and Lil Huddy. The 7 songs leaving hitbound are "Fix It to Break It" by Clinton Kane, "Way Less Sad" by AJR, "Girls Like Us" by Zoe Wees, "Overdrive" by Conan Gray, "Body" by Megan Thee Stallion, "Momma Always Told Me" by Mike Posner/Stanaj/Yung Bae, and "Skin" by Sabrina Carpenter.

Of the 7 songs leaving, 2 are 'graduating' to the Weekend Countdown: "Way Less Sad" by AJR and "Overdrive" by Conan Gray.

Just like last week, "Hits 1 To Watch" for February, Jessia, has her song "I'm not Pretty" play first on Hit-Bound and is still on the show even though she made it to the Weekend Countdown 2 weeks ago. Her song has also had increasing air play time over the past week and is now played practicially every hour at a minimum -- personally I've gotten tired of it.

Songs aren't ranked and are listed chronologically when they aired.

New songs will have a plus [+] at the end of their listing. Returning songs will have a [R]. Non-Hit-Bound songs will be colored purple, these are the songs after the announcement "Hit-Bound stops to play this moment's most Wutchuwanted song."

This is the 14th countdown of 2021 and the first one in April and the second quarter. Last week, Taylor Swift's "willow" ended Drivers License's streak at #1 and became the fifth different song to reach #1 this year. Will it continue to be #1? Scroll down to find out. An interesting note, this week I noticed at least 2 slip-ups on the countdown that referred to its former number of songs, 45. In the first part of the intro Spyder Harrison said, "Before we get to this week's fresh 45..." and there was an automated ident that said, "The 45 biggest hits in North America." It is likely these are just mistakes, but it would be nice to get back to 45 songs, even if it was 3 hours in length. This is the 13th countdown of 2021 and the final one in March and the first quarter. Last week, Drivers License was #1 for the fourth week in a row. It is now the outright the top song of 2021 with four week at #1. Will it extend its time at #1? Scroll down to find out. This week, there are 3 songs entering and 3 leaving. Joshua Bassett's "Lie Lie Lie" (was #9), Sigala/James Arthur's "Lasting Lover" (#19), and 24kGoldn's "3,2,1" (#26) are all leaving the countdown. Joshua Bassett sets a new record on the countdown for the highest ranking song to fall out of the countdown from one week to the next. The previous record was the number 13 position for Ariana Grande's "34+35" just two weeks ago on March 13. Of those 3, "Lasting Lover" was the oldest song, being on the countdown since its premiere on January 1st.
