This is the eighth countdown of 2021: Last week, Levitating from Dua Lipa and DaBaby held onto the #1 spot for the third week in a row. Can it hold on to #1 for a fourth week in a row to become the longest running #1 song in 2021? Scroll down to find out.

This week, the number of songs entering & exiting the countdown increased by one to three. There was a bit more movement on the chart compared to last week: Of the existing 27 songs, 6 stayed in their same spot and 2 moved up by one spot. That means that 70% of the existing songs moved up or down by more than 1 spot. Nine songs dropped down in position on the chart with an average decrease of -3.3. Twelve songs moved up on the countdown with an average increase of +3.0. Average movement on the chart overall was +0.2 spots, including the 6 songs with no movement.

Dropping out of the countdown are "Prisoner" from Miley Cyrus & Dua Lipa, "Lonely" from Justin Bieber & Benny Blanco, and "Fix It to Break It" from Clinton Kane. The three new songs are "Good Days" from SZA, "We're Good" from Dua Lipa, and "Love Story (Taylor's Version) from Taylor Swift.
The latter 2 songs might be the fastest charting new songs to get on the Weekend Countdown. Dua Lipa's song was just released a little over a week ago on February 11th and Taylor's re-recording a day later on the 12th. Factoring in when the countdown is finalized and recorded (Thursday/Friday), the songs were barely 6 or 7 days old.

The fourth column in the table shows a song's change in rankings compared to last week. If there is no change, there will be a 0. New songs will have a dash (-).

This is the 14th countdown of 2021 and the first one in April and the second quarter. Last week, Taylor Swift's "willow" ended Drivers License's streak at #1 and became the fifth different song to reach #1 this year. Will it continue to be #1? Scroll down to find out. An interesting note, this week I noticed at least 2 slip-ups on the countdown that referred to its former number of songs, 45. In the first part of the intro Spyder Harrison said, "Before we get to this week's fresh 45..." and there was an automated ident that said, "The 45 biggest hits in North America." It is likely these are just mistakes, but it would be nice to get back to 45 songs, even if it was 3 hours in length. This is the 13th countdown of 2021 and the final one in March and the first quarter. Last week, Drivers License was #1 for the fourth week in a row. It is now the outright the top song of 2021 with four week at #1. Will it extend its time at #1? Scroll down to find out. This week, there are 3 songs entering and 3 leaving. Joshua Bassett's "Lie Lie Lie" (was #9), Sigala/James Arthur's "Lasting Lover" (#19), and 24kGoldn's "3,2,1" (#26) are all leaving the countdown. Joshua Bassett sets a new record on the countdown for the highest ranking song to fall out of the countdown from one week to the next. The previous record was the number 13 position for Ariana Grande's "34+35" just two weeks ago on March 13. Of those 3, "Lasting Lover" was the oldest song, being on the countdown since its premiere on January 1st.
