Hit-Bound with Mikey Piff - 2021 March 19

This is the 12th posting of Hit-Bound in 2021 and week 52 of the "Hits 1 at Home Edition" of Hit-Bound. It has been one full year since the pandemic forced them to mostly record the show from home. As normal, there are 20 songs this week; but with a new Hits 1 To Watch, it looks like there will only be 15 'Hit-Bound' songs going forward. Lil Huddy's song is on the Weekend Countdown, so it doesn't count as being a 'Hit-Bound' song. Just like Jessia's song, it is played at the start of every episode of Hit-Bound for the 5-6 weeks it is a Hits 1 To Watch.

The 20 songs now consist of: 1 song from the Hits 1 To Watch artist, 15 Hit-Bound songs, and 4 Wutchuwanted songs. There are 3 new songs on Hit-Bound this week; only 1 of the 3 songs leaving is moving over to the Weekend Countdown.

The new songs are "CHICKEN TENDIES" from Clinton Kane, "First Time" from Illenium/Iann Dior, and "Follow You" from Imagine Dragons.

The 3 songs leaving Hit-Bound are "Beautiful Mistakes" from Maroon 5/Megan Thee Stallion, "Best Friend" from Saweetie/Doja Cat, and "slower" from Tate McRae. Beautiful Mistakes is the only song 'graduating' to The Weekend Countdown with Spyder Harrison. Tate McRae's song was only on Hit-Bound for one week.

There is a new Hits 1 To Watch as of Wednesday March 17, Lil Huddy. His song "The Eulogy of You and Me" is the featured Hits 1 To Watch song. As such, it is played at the start of every episode of Hit-Bound. Since it is already on the Weekend Countdown, I am not counting it as part of the 15 Hit-Bound songs. Also, note that because of how SiriusXM first displayed the title of the song, I will still keep listing it as "The Eulogy of You" to keep consistency.

New songs will have a plus [+] at the end of their listing. Returning songs will have a [R]. Non-Hit-Bound songs will be colored purple, these are the songs after the announcement "Hit-Bound stops to play this moment's most Wutchuwanted song."

This is the 14th countdown of 2021 and the first one in April and the second quarter. Last week, Taylor Swift's "willow" ended Drivers License's streak at #1 and became the fifth different song to reach #1 this year. Will it continue to be #1? Scroll down to find out. An interesting note, this week I noticed at least 2 slip-ups on the countdown that referred to its former number of songs, 45. In the first part of the intro Spyder Harrison said, "Before we get to this week's fresh 45..." and there was an automated ident that said, "The 45 biggest hits in North America." It is likely these are just mistakes, but it would be nice to get back to 45 songs, even if it was 3 hours in length. Hits 1 Weekend Countdown - 2021 March 27

This is the 13th countdown of 2021 and the final one in March and the first quarter. Last week, Drivers License was #1 for the fourth week in a row. It is now the outright the top song of 2021 with four week at #1. Will it extend its time at #1? Scroll down to find out. This week, there are 3 songs entering and 3 leaving. Joshua Bassett's "Lie Lie Lie" (was #9), Sigala/James Arthur's "Lasting Lover" (#19), and 24kGoldn's "3,2,1" (#26) are all leaving the countdown. Joshua Bassett sets a new record on the countdown for the highest ranking song to fall out of the countdown from one week to the next. The previous record was the number 13 position for Ariana Grande's "34+35" just two weeks ago on March 13. Of those 3, "Lasting Lover" was the oldest song, being on the countdown since its premiere on January 1st.
