Hits 1 Weekend Countdown

This is the 19th countdown of 2021 and the first one with a guest host. The Morning Mashup crew of Stanley, Ryan Sampson, and Nicole are filling in for Spyder Harrison. At the end of last week's countdown, Spyder said that he would be on vacation for a few weeks. With the new hosts comes an increase in the amount of commentary before each song.

Last week, "We're Good" from Dua Lipa took the #1 spot away from "Overdrive" to become the 7th different #1 song of the year. Will it get to be #1 for a second week, or will another song steal its spot? Scroll down to find out.

This week, there is only one song entering and leaving. "I'm not Pretty" from Jessia is leaving the countdown this week, it was #23 last week. In the past 3 weeks, it had been hanging around the #20 position or lower.

The 1 new song is "Your Power" from Billie Eilish which is entering at #29. Her song skipped Hit-Bound but had been playing occasionally the past few weeks. It even got an introduction that highlighted it as new music. Just last week, her other song "Therefore I Am" left the countdown after its final week at #18 on April 24.

While these two aren't really new songs, "Save Your Tears" and "WITHOUT YOU" are being substituted for their respective new remixed versions. This happened in the past with "Monsters" when it was remixed to include Blackbear and later Demi Lovato. The songs retain their same rankings and are not considered new songs. For data consistency with my spreadsheet software, I am leaving the song titles the same but changing the artist label to account for the remix/collaboration. "Save Your Tears" from The Weeknd is adding Ariana Grande to the remix and The Kid LAROI's "WITHOUT YOU" is adding Miley Cyrus with a completely new vocal recording for The Kid LAROI's part.

For the 29 existing songs, 9 are staying in place and 7 are moving up or down by only 1 spot [4 up and 3 down]. So only 13 (45%) of those 29 songs moved by more than 1 spot. Of those, 6 dropped down in position with an average decrease of -3. The other 7 moved up with an average increase of +3.28. However, all except for one of those songs moved up by only 2 spots. The one outlier moved by +11.

Average movement on the chart excluding songs that moved by 0 or 1 spot was +0.38 spots (for 13 songs). Excluding the one song with the +11 increase, movement was -0.5 spots (for 12 songs) or -0.18 spots for the rest of the 28 existing songs. Including all 29 existing songs, movement was +0.21 spots.

The biggest drop was only 4 spots, for 2 songs: "WITHOUT YOU" from The Kid LAROI (#9 to #13) and "Overdrive" from Conan Gray (#2 to #6). Just two weeks ago, "Overdrive" was the #1 song, however, it has not fallen as quickly as past #1 songs have.

The next biggest drop was 3 spots for a pair of songs: "Save Your Tears" from The Weeknd and "Beautiful Mistakes" from Maroon 5/Megan Thee Stallion. They are now #21 and #20 after being #18 and #17 last week, respectively.

The biggest jump at 11 spots went to "Remember That Night?" from Sara Kays, going from #26 to #15. It is also the only ranking increase greater than 2 spots. "Remember That Night?" had previously fallen off the countdown on April 17 before returning the next week.

As said before, other than the 1 song that jumped up by 11 spots, 6 songs moved by +2 and 4 moved by +1. You can find details of those in the chart below .

The fourth column in the table shows a song's change in rankings compared to last week. Songs with no change have a 0. New songs have a dash (-).

"We're Good" retained the top spot for a second week in a row but it looks like there will be strong competition next week for a new #1 song (which would be the 8th different #1 song this year).
